Home collection of a lab sample

It's a good idea to double check where the sample is being tested and that the charges have been put in.

    Great refresher

I found coming from being an assistant to front end staff, the information is made very easy for both front end and clients

    Incorrect timing for fecal samples

When we use our in-house fecal Imagyst machine the samples can not be older than 12 hours, we have to input collect times before the machine will scan the sample on the microscope system. If the sample if more than 12 hours old, it will not even attempt to run any tests because they may be inaccurate especially looking for the eggs of intestinal parasites. Samples sent to the labs also need to be less than 12 hours old, we have 2 pick ups daily and the lab is less than an hour from our hospital. The lab will also not guarantee the accuracy of fecal results if older than 12 hours. This guarantee of accuracy is extremely important when a pet has a positive fecal when they have been on documented heartworm prevention that includes other intestinal parasite preventions. These medications are guaranteed to work or the company will pay for treatment if any intestinal parasite occur will on the monthly medications. Zoetis and Elanco will NOT cover client costs if the fecal can not be guaranteed accurate by the in-house lab diagnostic machines or external lab testings. And anyone who knows the cost of Drontol for a dog weighing 100 lbs, you want the company to pay that cost instead of the client, when the client followed the product protocols.

Title describes exactly what is in this Course. Spot on.

Very good points/steps to implement at our clinic's current process.
